§ Mr. NelsonEstimates of consumers' expenditure are not compiled monthly. Quarterly estimates of the volume of consumers' expenditure are shown in table 3 of the publication "Economic Trends". Table 1 of this publication gives monthly estimates of the volume of retail sales which account for about two fifths of total consumers' expenditure. Copies of "Economic Trends" are available in the House of Commons Library.
