§ Mr. BurnsTo ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will make a statement on the recent recommendations of the retail prices index advisory committee.
§ Mr. LamontI have decided to accept all the recommendations made by the committee in its report Cm 2142 on the treatment in the RPI of council tax and holidays as extended by the addendum Cm 2153 on the treatment of transitional relief. The report and the 163W addendum were presented to the House and published on 21 January and 24 February 1993 respectively. The Central Statistical Office will implement the changes with effect from the RPI for February 1993.
