§ Mr. HanleyAustralian and United Kingdom Ministers and officials met on 17 and 18 June to discuss the question of further clean-up of the former British nuclear weapon test sites in Australia. A proposal has been developed which Australian Ministers believe provides the basis for settling outstanding Australian claims against Britain. The solution envisages an ex gratia payment by 277W the United Kingdom to the Australian Government in full and final settlement of their claims. The proposal is to be considered by the Australian Cabinet.
