HC Deb 14 June 1993 vol 226 c473W
Dr. David Clark

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence what consideration he has given to the negotiation of further reductions in conventional forces in Europe.

Mr. Hanley

There are no current plans for further negotiations on reductions in conventional forces in Europe. The immediate priority is to ensure that the force level reductions in the conventional forces in Europe treaty are properly implemented.

Dr. David Clark

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence, pursuant to his answer of 12 May,Official Report, column 522, if he will provide details of the teething difficulties that have occurred with the practice inspections that have been carried out as part of the preparation for the conventional forces in Europe treaty.

Mr. Hanley

Most of the difficulties encountered so far during practice CFE inspections have concerned minor differences of interpretation of procedures such as the standard of site diagrams to be produced.
