HC Deb 07 June 1993 vol 226 cc55-6W
Ms Walley

To ask the Secretary of State for Health what targets have been set for the reduction of unwanted teenage pregnancies.

Mr. Sackville

The Government White Paper, "The Health of the Nation", includes the target to reduce the rate of conceptions among the under-16s by at least 50 per cent. by the year 2000. Measures which reduce pregnancies in the under-16s may also be expected to exert a similar effect on unwanted pregnancies in the over-16s.

Ms Gordon

To ask the Secretary of State for Health what was the rate of(a) births and (b) abortions per thousand women aged (i) 15, (ii) 16, (iii) 17, (iv) 18 and (v) 19 years in each year since 1980.

Mr. Sackville
