§ Mr. McFallTo ask the Secretary of State for Scotland what method of election or appointment he will introduce for members of the new Police Authority arising from the proposed changes to local government in Scotland.
§ Lord James Douglas-HamiltonAll new councils in Scotland will be police authorities and their members will be elected in the usual way. Where police force areas cover more than one council area there will be joint police committees for those forces made up of representatives from the councils in the force area.
