HC Deb 26 July 1993 vol 229 c687W
Ms Quin

To ask the Secretary of State for Employment if he will give estimates for(a) expenditure already incurred and (b) expenditure envisaged in implementing those provisions of the Trade Union Reform and Employment Rights Act 1993 relating to the careers service.

Miss Widdecombe

In preparing for the new careers service arrangements, a small amount of administrative and other costs have so far been incurred by the Employment Department. It is estimated that in a full year, additional running costs will be about £0.5 million in England. The provision of careers services in Scotland and Wales are the responsibility of my right hon. Friends the Secretaries of State for Scotland and Wales. The Government's expenditure plans for 1994–95 and beyond will be settled later this year in the current public expenditure survey. Sufficient funds will be provided to fulfil the statutory duty of my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State.
