§ Mr. CousinsTo ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer what consideration he gives to complaints of excessive zeal on the part of Inland Revenue investigating officers from hon. Members; how many such complaints he has received with regard to the special office No. 2; what written guidance exists to guide him on how to deal with such complaints; and if he will place a copy of such guidance in the Library.
§ Mr. DorrellThere are no special arrangements for dealing with this type of complaint, which would be referred to the Inland Revenue for full investigation and report in the normal way. A response would then be made to the hon. Member as appropriate by the Minister responsible or by the Inland Revenue direct.
I am not aware that any such complaints have been received with regard to the special office No. 2.
