§ Mr. PortilloOn 1 April 1993 there were 554,212 staff in post in central Government, a decrease of about 13,600 since 1 October 1992. This is the largest six-monthly fall since July 1987.
Of the total staff in post, 502,798 were non-industrials and 51,414 were classified as being in industrial work. A summary showing staff in post by Department has been placed in the Library.
