HC Deb 26 January 1993 vol 217 cc619-20W
Mr. Cryer

To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer how the Inland Revenue ensures that all additional gifts to employees are declared under the Taxes Management Act 1970.

Mr. Dorrell

Employers are required to make returns of taxable gifts to employees. Employees are required to declare their taxable income. The Inland Revenue audits the operation of PAYE by employers, and investigates possible under-declarations both in business accounts and personal tax returns.
