HC Deb 21 January 1993 vol 217 c394W
21. Mr. Jenkin

To ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland what measures are being taken to regenerate the Londonderry economy.

Mr. Atkins

The Londonderry area benefits from the many measures currently being undertaken by Government to promote economic development throughout Northern Ireland. The Department of the Environment's Londonderry development officer provides a clear focus for all forms of regeneration in the area, including the Londonderry initiative. Furthermore, both the Industrial Development Board and the Local Enterprise Development Unit have Londonderry regional offices. The IDB has been successful in attracting 955 new jobs and £48 million in new investment to the area in 1992.
