To ask the Secretary of State for Transport what proportion of pedestrians who were killed in road crashes were above the age of 60 years in the most recent available year.

Data for the most recent available year (1991) show that there were 1,496 pedestrian fatalities in road crashes of which 736, or 49.2 per cent., were over the age of 60.
