To ask the Secretary of State for Health if she will estimate the total number of habitual smokers in each regional health authority; and if she will make a statement.

The estimated number in each regional health authority of people aged 16 and over who said in 1990, the latest year for which figures are available, that they "smoke cigarettes nowadays" is given in the table.
