HC Deb 11 January 1993 vol 216 c681W
Mrs. Helen Jackson

To ask the Secretary of State for Social Security how much compensation has been paid to social security claimants in the current year for late payment of benefit, for benefit interruptions, or in ex-gratia payments.

Mr. Burt

During the six-month period ending 30 September 1992, a total of £1,499,236 was disbursed as ex-gratia payments, of which £1,113,367 represented compensation payments. The records kept do not distinguish between payments made for delay in payment of benefit and payments made for interruption of benefit.
