§ Mr. Lennox-BoydIn Latin America there are currently 41 British consular offices, including honorary consular offices. A list follows. In 1987 there were 33 such offices. The increase in the number of consular offices is the result of the extension of the honorary network. Honorary consuls provide assistance and advice to British national at minimal cost.
