24. Mr. Faber

To ask the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what representations his Department has made to the European Commission concerning the draft meat products directive as it affects the travel temperature of cooked meat.

Mr. Soames

The single market rules for trade in meat products are set out in directive 92/5/EEC which came into effect in all member states from 1 January 1993. This directive does not include any specific temperature requirements for the transportation of meat products. However, manufacturers are required to indicate on the packaging the recommended temperature at which products must be transported.

26. Mr. Chisholm

To ask the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what representations he has received in the last six months from potato producers in the United Kingdom about his proposals for the future of the Potato Marketing Board.
