HC Deb 24 February 1993 vol 219 cc643-4W
Dr. Godman

To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland what discussions he has held with organisations in(a) Inverclyde and (b) Strathclyde in relation to ways of dealing with drug problems; what proposals he has put forward for Scottish Office assistance; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Stewart

[holding answer 12 February 1993]Drug misuse in Strathclyde is a matter of continuing concern to my right hon. Friend; and the Scottish Office is in regular contact with statutory and voluntary bodies in the area. Assistance, through funding, in tackling drug misuse is provided directly and indirectly by the Scottish Office in a number of ways. In particular, Strathclyde regional council is receiving support through the urban programme for drug-related projects, including the Inverclyde Drugline.
