To ask the Secretary of State for Health if she will make a statement on her proposals for improving primary health care in London.

Mr. Sackville

My right hon. Friend the Secretary of State announced the Government's proposals for London's health services, including primary care, on 17 February. We are setting in place a major programme to develop higher-quality, more accessible primary health services at local level. Our aim is to bring primary care in London up to the high standards found elsewhere in the country and to equip it to face the challenges and opportunities of health care provision in the 21st century.
