To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment when the draft regional planning guidance for the south-east will be published.

My Department expects to publish new draft regional planning guidance for the south-east shortly.

To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment what plans his Department has to publish draft planning guidance for regions of the United Kingdom other than the south-east; and what account these will take of the plans for the south-east.

Regional planning guidance was published for East Anglia in July 1991. Draft regional planning guidance for the northern region was issued for consultation on 10 February 1993. Regional planning guidance will be issued for all other English regions by the end of 1993 or as early as possible thereafter. All regional planning guidance will take account of planning policies in other regions. Planning policies in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland are the responsibility of the respective Secretaries of State.
