§ Mr. Llew SmithTo ask the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will publish a detailed breakdown of the increase from 1991–92 to 1992–93 for the energy efficiency office as listed at figures 8 and 20 of his Department's annual report 1993, Cm. 2207; and if he will make a statement on the effects upon the office of transfer to his Department.
§ Mr. MacleanA breakdown of expenditure by the Energy Efficiency Office by programme area is given in figure 20 of the Department's annual report. This lists annual expenditure and future plans for the period 1987–88 to 1995–96.
The Government remain fully committed to the work of the EEO, which was transferred to the Department of the Environment in view of the environmental importance of energy efficiency. The EEO continues to offer and develop a wide range of programmes designed to encourage cost-effective improvements in energy efficiency in industry, commerce and the public sector and in the home.
