HC Deb 17 February 1993 vol 219 cc262-3W
Mr. Dowd

To ask the President of the Board of Trade how many individual voluntary arrangements under part VIII of the Insolvency Act 1986 have been notified to his Department in each of the last three years for which records are available; what is the total value of debt written off in this fashion over this period; how many businesses have thereby been thus enabled to continue trading; and how many creditors have suffered irrecoverable losses as a result of the operation of this part of the Act.

Mr. Neil Hamilton

The number of individual voluntary arrangements in each year are published on my Department's behalf in "Business Briefing" by the Association of British Chambers of Commerce, copies of which are available in the Library. The further information sought by the hon. Member is not maintained and could be obtained only at disproportionate cost.
