HC Deb 17 February 1993 vol 219 c253W
Mr. Allen

To ask the Secretary of State for Social Security if he will take steps to resolve the attendance allowance claim of Mrs. June Stanley—NI number YE 25 22 49 C—outstanding from February 1992; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Scott

The administration of disability living allowance is a matter for Mr. Michael Bichard, the chief executive of the Benefits Agency. He will write shortly to the hon. Member and a copy will be placed in the Library.

Letter from Michael Bichard to Mr. Graham Allen, dated 16 February 1993: As Chief Executive of the Benefits Agency, it is my responsibility to answer questions raised about relevant operational matters. I am therfore replying to your recent Parliamentary Question to the Secretary of State for Social Security, about when he will take steps to resolve the Attendance Allowance claim of Mrs. June Stanley which is outstanding from February 1992. A decision on Mrs. Stanley's Attendance Allowance claim was made on 21 January 1992 and a further review decision on 15 June 1992. Mrs. Stanley subsequently appealed on 1 September against the review decision and arrangements are now being made for a Disability Appeal Tribunal to consider her appeal. I have written to you separately and in greater detail about this matter. I hope you find this reply helpful. A copy will appear in the Official Report. A copy will also be placed in the Library.
