HC Deb 16 February 1993 vol 219 c170W
Dr. Spink

To ask the Secretary of State for Social Security what would be the additional revenue generated in a full year from the abolition of employees' national insurance contributions upper earnings limit.

Miss Widdecombe

If the upper earnings limit for employees' contributions was abolished, the additional revenue yield for 1993–94 would be about 2.9 billion. About 3 million employees would have to pay extra national insurance contributions as a result.
