To ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland how many sheep farmers there are in Northern Ireland; and how many sheep farmers are in receipt of hill livestock compensatory amounts.

In the latest agricultural census, sheep were recorded on 11,323 holdings. Hill livestock compensatory allowance in respect of sheep was paid to 9,802 farmers in 1992.
