HC Deb 08 February 1993 vol 218 cc476-7W
Mr. Milburn

To ask the Secretary of State for Health if she will list the criteria by which nominations to(a) district health authorities and (b) trust boards are judged.

Dr. Mawhinney

I refer the hon. Member to the reply I gave my hon. Friend the Member for Macclesfield (Mr. Winterton) on 8 December 1992, at column638.

Mr. Milburn

To ask the Secretary of State for Health what guidelines she issues to regional health authorities about the methods by which nominations are sought for(a) district health authorities and (b) trust boards.

Dr. Mawhinney

Regional health authorities are asked to nominate people from a variety of backgrounds, with the experience and skills which will enable them to contribute to the management and strategic direction of the authority or trust. Individuals may nominate themselves or be nominated by others.

Mr. Milburn

To ask the Secretary of State for Health if she will publish the full list of names she has received as nominees to(a) district health authorities and (b) self-governing trust boards.

Dr. Mawhinney

No. The process of nomination and selection for appointments is confidential.
