§ Mr. CousinsTo ask the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will publish a table showing standard spending assessments for education and personal social services for each relevant authority for 1993–94 relative to 1992–93, disregarding in the case of personal social services the effect of community care changes, and showing in the case of education the effect of change in pupil numbers.
§ Mr. Robin SquireI have today placed in the Library two tables containing the following information:
- (i) The standard spending assessment (SSA) for 1992–93, that for 1993–94 and the difference between the two in £ million and as a percentage change;
- (ii) The SSA element for education in 1992–93 adjusted for those functions which will no longer be the responsibility of local authorities in 1993–94, particularly further education, the education SSA for 1993–94 and the difference between the two in £ million and as a percentage.
For 1993–94 expenditure on community care will be funded by means of a special transitional grant. It is riot possible to show the effects of changes in pupil numbers because of the changes in function between 1992–93 and 1993–94.
