HC Deb 02 February 1993 vol 218 c89W
Mr. Cousins

To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment, pursuant to his answer to the hon. Member for Newcastle upon Tyne. Central of 15 July 1992,Official Report, column 836, if he is now in a position to announce his decision on the Tyneside clinical waste incinerator application; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Maclean

The inspector's report on this application, which is the subject of an appeal by Northumbrian Water Group plc, was received by the Secretary of State on 24 September 1992. Together with the report of the assessor, who advised the inspector on technical issues, the report runs to some 200 pages. It raises a number of complex issues, all of which have to be carefully considered before a decision can be issued.

Good progress is being made and the decision will be issued as soon as it is practicable to do so.
