HC Deb 01 February 1993 vol 218 cc1-2W
Mr. Barry Field

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport what studies had been made of the effect of the channel tunnel on the income from light dues.

Mr. Norris

The light dues income from vessels using ports adjacent to the tunnel is estimated to have been £650,000 out of a total light dues income of £45 million in 1991–92. The effect of the opening of the channel tunnel on income from light dues is therefore likely to be minimal.
