To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment what plans he has to bring forward Government legislation on hedgerows.

The Government continue to support the Hedgerows Bill introduced by my hon. Friend the Member for Surrey, East (Mr. Ainsworth). It is too soon to anticipate that my hon. Friend's Bill will fail in this session.
