Mr. Simon Hughes

To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment whether any of the land offered in exchange for land along the route of the east London river crossing under compulsory purchase orders 10 and 11, 19 November 1991, is designated as(a) a site of special scientific interest or (b) as being of special character and metropolitan importance under the Greater London development plan; and if he will make a statement.

(a) None. (b) The land within the London borough of Bexley offered in exchange for public open space to be acquired for the east London river crossing is designated as an area of special character in the Bexley borough plan, adopted in February 1985, which implemented the policy aims set out in the Greater London development plan.
