HL Deb 17 December 1993 vol 550 c154WA
Lord Stoddart of Swindon

asked Her Majesty's Government:

What progress was made in the Budget towards the Prime Minister's dream of wealth cascading down the generations through inheritance aided by the abolition of Inheritance Tax.

The Minister of State, Department of Transport (The Earl of Caithness)

The Government remain committed to reducing the burden of Inheritance Tax to allow wealth to pass more easily between generations. However, further improvements can take place only as and when economic circumstances allow.
