§ Mr. StrawTo ask the Secretary of State for National Heritage if he will list the regional and area offices of his Department, of English Heritage, the tourist authority and boards, the Sports Council, the Arts Council, and of other inspectorates, agencies, and other public bodies for which he is responsible.
§ Mr. SproatMy Department does not have any regional or area offices. Of those bodies for which my Department is responsible, English Heritage has regional offices serving the north, midlands, south-east, south-west980W and London; and the Sports Council of Great Britain has regional offices serving the north, north-west, Yorkshire and Humberside, the east midlands, west midlands, the east, south-east, south, south-west and Greater London regions.
The English tourist board provides funds to 11 regional tourist boards; the Arts Council of Great Britain provides funds for the Scottish and Welsh Arts Councils and 10 regional arts boards in England. From 1 April 1994 responsibility for the Scottish and Welsh Arts Councils will be transferred to the respective Secretaries of State for Scotland and for Wales. The Museums and Galleries Commission funds seven area museums councils.
