§ Mr. Nelson[holding answer 15 December 1993]: The expenditure by the Department on advertising in the period 1988–89 to 1992–93 and during the past 12 months is shown in the table. Expenditure in 1985–86 was £42,000. I refer the hon. Member to the reply I gave to the hon. Member for The Wrekin (Mr. Grocott) on 10 December, Official Report, column 404. Figures for the other years could be obtained only at disproportionate cost.
