To ask the Secretary of State for Defence what is his best estimate of the annual cost of support services, including security, catering, sewage disposal and emergency fire services at RAF Chivenor from 1 October 1994.

Under the proposals that I announced in the answer I gave my hon. Friend the Member for Langbaurgh (Mr. Bates) on 7 December,Official Report, column 177, flying training would cease at RAF Chivenor from 1 October 1994 and by 1995 Chivenor would operate on a care and maintenance basis. The annual cost of support services for 1 October 1994 would be some £937,000 per annum.

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence how much his Department has spent on new and existing buildings and infrastructure at(a) RAF Chivenor and (b) RAF Valley in each of the last five years.
