§ Mr. Stewart[holding answer 15 December 1993]: The boards of local enterprise companies consist of directors who have formed companies under the Companies Act 1985, and have entered into contracts with Scottish Enterprise or Highlands and Islands Enterprise. The arrangements for appointing chairmen and directors are a matter for individual local enterprise companies, subject to the terms of their respective memoranda and articles of association, which must be approved by Scottish Enterprise or Highlands and Islands Enterprise.
