Mr. Spearing

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport if he will name the persons who were responsible for the report on the Marchioness disaster together with their official positions, experience and qualifications.

Mr. Norris

[holding answer 13 December 1993]: The report is that of the Chief Inspector of Marine Accidents, Captain P. B. Marriott. Prior to his appointment as chief inspector, Captain Marriott worked in the shipping industry for 33 years and is a fully qualified and experienced master mariner.

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport what relevant facts he now has in his possession, or have been drawn to his attention, which in his opinion are additional to those set out in the report of the marine accident investigation branch concerning the Marchioness disaster.
