HC Deb 13 December 1993 vol 234 cc431-2W
1992. Mr. Allen

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department how many people have been deported, so far, in 1993; and how many people were deported from the United Kingdom in(a) 1991 and (b)

making their houses available for the purpose of surveillance it is open to the prosecution to apply to the court before trial for a ruling that this fact should not be disclosed to the defence. The court's duty is then to balance the public interest of non-disclosure against the interest of securing fairness to the defendant. If the court decides against disclosure the identity of the house occupier would not then be revealed in court. If an order for disclosure is made it is open to the prosecution to abandon the case.
