§ Sir Wyn RobertsA survey undertaken by the Department shows that, in Wales, 2,573 students entered courses of initial teacher training this year, an increase of nearly 5 per cent. over 1992. Recruitment to primary courses was about the same as last year, but recruitment to secondary courses was up by almost 15 per cent. I welcome in particular the increase in secondary intakes as many of these students are pursuing courses in the shortage areas including Welsh.
