§ Mr. FrenchTo ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department what information he has on the most frequent means of distribution of computer pornography to children.
§ Mr. MacleanI am aware of reports of cases where computer disks containing pornography have exchanged hands in school playgrounds, although it is impossible to estimate reliably how many children may have been exposed to computer pornography in this way. In such cases the police are able to act under the Obscene Publications Acts 1959 and 1964. There is also evidence of pornographic material being transmitted along public telephone lines from computer bulletin boards. Such activity is an offence under the Telecommunications Act 1984.
