HC Deb 06 December 1993 vol 234 c89W
Mrs. Fyfe

To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland when influenza vaccine will be available for all who require it.

Mr. Stewart

[holding answer 25 November 1993]: Vaccine shortage arose as a result of the influenza outbreak occurring earlier than expected and the failure of one manufacturer's product to meet the required standard. Other manufacturers have increased production and the supply position is now improving. Sufficient supplies should he available to meet the needs of those groups identified in the Chief Medical Officer's letter of 8 October as being at risk by early December.
