HC Deb 02 December 1993 vol 233 c698W
Ms Primarolo

To ask the Secretary of State for Health how much money in real terms would be saved from drug prescribing if the exemption for pregnant and nursing mothers were removed.

Dr. Mawhinney

There is no firm evidence to suggest that there would be a reduction in prescribing, and consequent savings in drugs bill expenditure, if prescription charge exemption for expectant and nursing mothers were to be removed.
