Mr. Llew Smith

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence what changes have been made since the opening of the Scott inquiry in the criteria adopted by his Department in deciding whether to give substantive replies to parliamentary questions seeking details of arms or military equipment exports from the United Kingdom.

Note: Figures are based on the cost of the Royal Air Force and civil flights involved. Where RAF flights were used (in all cases except the visit to the United States of America in April and the vast majority of the Far East visit in May) the costs also include the flight costs of accompanying officials. Accommodation normally provided by Her Majesty's Ambassador or High Commissioner, other Government representative, or by host.
