§ Mr. Llew SmithTo ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department what powers are available to the police to apprehend and arrest individuals attempting unlawfully to sell nuclear materials in the United Kingdom.
§ Mr. Charles WardleThe police have the power to arrest without warrant in relation to an offence of dealing with nuclear material in contravention of subsection (2) of section 2 of the Nuclear Material (Offences) Act 1983. In certain circumstances, they may also be able to arrest for offences under the Theft Act 1968.
