§ Mr. DickensTo ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will consider setting up a working party to conduct a study of the recruitment methods used by secret cults in the United Kingdom and to advise if legislation would be appropriate.
§ Mr. JackThe Government do not plan to set up such a working party. Nor do the Government consider it appropriate to legislate specifically in this area. The existing criminal law is adequate to deal with any offences committed by members of a new religious movement or sect.
