HC Deb 20 April 1993 vol 223 cc90-1W
Mr. Meale

To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland what assessment he has made of whether all fox hunts that have licences or permits to hunt on Forestry Commission land are fully aware of the terms and conditions; and what arrangements are made to supply copies in writing.

Sir Hector Monro

All permits issued to fox hunts by the Forestry Commission clearly set out the terms and conditions on which they are granted. Copies are signed and retained by the commission and the master or secretary of each hunt. The fox hunts are therefore fully aware of the terms and conditions.

Mr. Meale

To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland what monitoring and supervision procedures are in place to ensure that the terms and conditions of licences issued to hunt on Forestry Commission land are adhered to.

Sir Hector Monro

Forestry Commission staff carry out random checks on hunt days to ensure that the conditions of the licences are being followed.

Mr. Meale

To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland what are the terms and conditions of licences or permits given to(a) the New Forest Buckhounds and (b) the Surrey Union hunt to hunt on Forestry Commission land; and to which areas of land the licences or permits apply.

Mr. Curry

I have been asked to reply.

Copies of the permits issued by the Forestry Commission to the New Forest Buckhounds and the Surrey Union hunt for the 1992–93 season have been placed in the Library of the House. These incorporate maps which show the areas of land covered by the permits.
