§ Mr. MeacherTo ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if he will place in the Library a copy of the environmental impact assessment and the results of consultations undertaken with local interest groups for the British aid-funded Malaysian rural water study project announced in April 1984.
§ Mr. Lennox-Boyd[holding answer 2 April 1993]: This project comprised 134 sub-projects. ODA commissioned environmental assessments of two of the larger sub-projects which involved construction of dams. No changes in project design were indicated.
Environmental impact assessments cover issues of potential sensitivity to overseas Governments and material which is commercial in confidence; they are not made generally available.
