HC Deb 19 April 1993 vol 223 c30W
Mr. Battle

To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs in respect of how many co-financed projects under the joint funding scheme the Government have requested a reimbursement on grounds of unsatisfactory performance, listed(a) by country and (b) by non-governmental organisation concerned.

Mr. Lennox-Boyd

There has been one occasion when the Government requested a reimbursement of funds received by an NGO from the joint funding scheme. This occurred in 1989. The project was based in Indonesia and the agency concerned was World Vision UK. The project was carrying out activities which had not been described in the proposal and to which we had not agreed. We are, however, continuing to fund World Vision projects in Bangladesh, Cambodia, Ethiopia, Bali, Peru, Senegal and Vietnam and are satisfied that these are being implemented properly.
