HL Deb 15 April 1993 vol 544 c87WA
Lord Molloy

asked Her Majesty's Government:

What liaison they are encouraging between the police, horse breeders and stable owners to prevent the recent attacks which have left horses dying and maimed.

Earl Ferrers

This is an operational matter which is the responsibility of the chief officers of the forces concerned. I understand, however, that the Hampshire Constabulary, in whose area many of the attacks have taken place, has set up a special squad of officers which is co-operating with other forces, the RSPCA, veterinary surgeons and the Pony Club, in a determined effort to stop these crimes. A number of forces, including Hampshire, have also set up horse watch schemes.
