§ Mr. Robert JacksonThe Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster makes appointments to the following non-departmental public bodies included in "Public Bodies 1992": the Civil Service Appeal Board; Agricultural and Food Research Council; Economic and Social Research Council; Medical Research Council; Natural Environment Research Council; Science and Engineering Research Council; and the Advisory Board for the Research Councils.
In keeping with the provisions of paragraph 50 of "Questions of Procedure for Ministers", the Prime Minister is consulted about the appointment of the chairman of the research councils, and about the appointment of the chairman and independent members of the Advisory Board for the Research Councils.
Appointments to the Civil Service Appeal Board do not come within the categories set out in paragraphs 49 and 50 and appointments are not required to be submitted to the Prime Minister.
