HC Deb 01 April 1993 vol 222 c415W
Mr. Morgan

To ask the Secretary of State for Wales when he expects to commence the quinquennial reviews of(a) the national library of Wales, (b) the national museum of Wales, (c) the Royal Commission on Ancient and Historical Monuments in Wales, (d) the Welsh National Board for Nursing, Midwifery and Health Visiting, (e) Housing for Wales and (f) the Curriculum Council for Wales; what proposals he has for meeting his staffing requirements for release for undertaking these quinquennial reviews; what proposals he has to set up a section of his Department to undertake reviews; and if he will make a statement.

Sir Wyn Roberts

Financial management and policy reviews are planned to begin during 1993–94 for all these bodies, with the exception of the Curriculum Council for Wales, because, subject to the passagem of the Education Bill, it will be replaced by the Curriculum and Assessment Authority for Wales on 1 April 1994.

Reviews are normally carried out by staff temporarily transferred from other duties; I have no proposals for setting up a special section.
